Children's Hospital Los Angeles

Los Angeles, CA

Description

Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) is one of the largest children’s hospitals in the United States and offers a new state-of-the-art hospital building that opened in July, 2011. For the fifth year in a row, our hospital has been named to the prestigious National Honor Roll by U.S. News & World Report rankings. Only 10 children's hospitals in the United States achieved Honor Roll status for 2013-2014. The hospital has been selected for the Honor Roll every year since this esteemed list launched in 2009, and Children's Hospital Los Angeles has been named among the nation's best children's hospitals annually since the inception of the magazine's rankings in 1990. CHLA is ranked fifth in the nation for cancer care on the U.S. News & World Report Best Children's Hospitals List.

Within CHLA resides the Children’s Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders (CCCBD), which is one of the largest centers nationally providing care for children with cancer and hematologic disorders. The Neuro-Oncology Program at CHLA is one of the largest programs of its kind in the country and the foremost program in Southern California, with approximately 100 -110 new referrals per annum

CHLA has an active brain tumor basic and translational research program formally established in 2007 with focus on issues of brain tumors related to the tumor microenvironment, radiation-free risk stratification, radiation injury and imaging.

The Neuro-Oncology team is composed of board certified neuro-oncologists, pediatric neurosurgeons, pediatric neuro-radiologists, pediatric radiation oncologist/radiation physicist, pediatric neuropathologists, nurse practitioners, clinical research nurses, a social worker, and a psychologist.
